Thinking of lunch or light dinner in Tavernier consider Chads Deli & Bakery. I’ve always wondered about the name because its not a bakery. Its a good Italian Delli and pizzeria. At lunch the food is fresh and good with large portions. Todays lunch, for me was a Steak, Onions and Cheese sub on a sour doug roll, was tasty, fresh and served piping hot with a drink and chips. The pricing is a little high, but the food is good and portions are large. Their dinners are good and reasonable priced. A great place for a bite and the service is great. Give it a try (Eat in, Delivery and Takeout)

Chads is located at Mile Marker 92 on the west side of overseas Highway in Tavernier. Open from 10 am-10pm Phone (305) 853-5556

By far some of the best pizza I have had in all of South Florida combined. They also have delectable hot & cold subs if your not in the Pizza mood. They pride themselves for their New Jersey roots and this shows in their decorating style, which features boardwalk photos, as well as Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike signs. Their prices are very reasonable and service is decent. Boardwalk is a great place for very casual outdoor eating, take out or delivery. And they are also dog friendly. The King and his Royal Family are becoming regulars at this establishment and plan to revisit frequently. Overall it’s a great place to enjoy a slice of pizza and a ice-cold beer. They also Deliver. Located at Mile Marker 88 on the corner of High Point Rd. and Overseas Highway; Bayside. 305-853-3800

Customers can enjoy a spectacular ocean view while enjoying something from our diverse menu and sipping on their favorite beverage. Arrive by boat or by land. Hog Heaven serves a full menu from 11am – 3:30am daily. They have by far the greatest Mac’ & Cheese you will ever eat. Now I’m not talking your out of the box type but better than a pasta dish from an Italian restaurant. Try it with some grilled chicken if your extra hungry. Great lunch specials & to die for conch fritters. Also a great nightspot with your average mixed drink in the $6-$8 range. On a nice night hang out on the back deck & give the bartender a hello from the King!

The Ocean View Sports Pub is a favorite among tourists and locals alike. The Ocean View has been around for many years (they have the first liquor license issued in the keys). While it doesn’t look like much from the front, the best part of the bar is ouside in the back. You’ve got a great view of the water, plenty of seating and standing room, and a great mix of tourists and locals
This pub features:

Ocean access – You can pull up and dock just about any medium-sized boat

Horseshoes

A playground for the kiddies

Pool

Several TV’s

Beer pong/flipcup table

The dirtiest bathrooms in the Keys (or so I’ve heard)

Overview: Drink prices are reasonable and the view is spectacular. It’s worth a visit if your passing by.

Last weekend, we visited the world-famous Tiki Bar at Holiday Isle. For those who haven’t been, Holiday Isle is basically a quasi run-down resort, located in Islamorada. Within or right near the resort, there are a few bars, the largest of which is the Tiki Bar. The Tiki Bar is a fairly large, 2-story bar which is well-equipped with all the ammenities you’d expect in the most popular hangout in the Upper Keys. The Tiki Bar bar has plenty of standing and sitting room centered around a stage which hosts live music at least 3 nights per week.

The first floor bar is probably about 200 feet long and wraps around and through portions of the first floor. Around the bar there are plenty of seats, a small, sand-covered area with several tables and lots of standing room. The stage and dance floor are set off to the side.
The second floor is much smaller than the first and usually has one or two small bars open. From the second floor, you can get out of the crowd and look down at the stage and other drunk patrons.

The low-down:

Prices are moderate

Crowd is mixed, weekend nights are usually good for the younger folks

Music is either good, bad or somewhere in the middle…

Great bar to spend a rainy afternoon in if you’ve got nothing better to do

If you’re in the mood for a frozen drink, shell out the extra cash for a floater because the standard is pretty week. I say, stick with the Long Island Ice Teas
